Advisor
How the fractional CTO/CISO hours included in your subscription are booked and consumed, and what happens when they run out.
Last reviewed:
Advisor is fractional CTO or CISO time included in your plan. It exists for what a dashboard does not solve: deciding what to tackle first, preparing for a conversation with a client demanding evidence, or putting a plan in order with the budget you actually have.
What it is and what it is not
These are advisory hours: judgment, direction, and review. They are not hours of execution inside your systems. An advisor tells you what to configure and why, and reviews what you did; they do not go in and configure it for you. The distinction matters because it defines what you can expect from the session.
How to book a session
- 1
Open Advisor and request the session
You pick the advisor, the type of expert you need — CISO, CTO, or either — and optionally a preferred time.
- 2
Follow the request's status
It moves through *Requested*, *Scheduling*, and *Scheduled*; once it is over it shows as *Completed*. If you gave a preferred time and there is availability, the session books itself; if not, the team contacts you to arrange it.
- 3
Know your topic before you walk in
One hour a month goes much further with a concrete question than with a general review. Bring the finding, the client requirement, or the decision you are stuck on.
How hours are counted
The hours card shows how many of the included hours you have used and the exact dates of the current cycle. Consumption is recorded when the session completes, at its actual duration — not when you book it.
What happens when you exceed the included hours
Sessions beyond the cycle's quota are billed as an additional charge. They are not blocked: if you need more time, you have it, and it appears on your invoice as overage.
The overage hourly rate is in your proposal or quote, not in the platform. If you do not have it at hand, ask before booking the session that goes over quota — it is a thirty-second conversation that avoids a surprise on the invoice.
